Puppy Chow - Favorite Kid Snack

With just five ingredients and a few minutes, kids of all ages, and kids at heart, can enjoy this crunchy, peanut butter, chocolate, sweet treat.

Puppy Chow - great snack for all ages, party food, holidays, feeds a crowd

When I pull out my big, red, Tupperware bowl, my kids get excited, because we affectionately call that bowl our Puppy Chow Bowl.  Puppy Chow is our go to snack for parties and holidays.  My recipe makes a big batch, is easy to store, and it's a crowd favorite.

So when my kids headed back to school yesterday I knew I needed to make a special after school snack and I thought Puppy Chow would be the perfect treat!  (Cue the first day of school pictures 😉)

Being born and raised in the Midwest I have tried many versions of this simple recipe, and have perfected my own.  My recipe is heavy on the peanut butter and chocolate, and light on the powdered sugar.  I hope you enjoy it as much as our family does!

Puppy Chow

1 - 12 oz box of Rice Chex
1/2 cup Butter
1 - 12 oz bag of Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1 cup Peanut Butter, creamy
2 cups Powdered Sugar

Pour Rice Chex in a big bowl and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper covering it.  Meanwhile in a small sauce pan melt butter and stir in chocolate chips and peanut butter.  Stir mixture until smooth.  Pour the chocolate peanut butter mixture over the cereal and gently stir, coating each piece.  Next sprinkle powdered sugar over cereal and mix to cover.  Spread mixture on prepared baking sheet and let sit until cool.  Store puppy chow in an air-tight container (I recommend getting your own Puppy Chow bowl - a Tupperware Thatsa bowl 😉).

What are some of your favorite snacks to bring to parties or holidays?
