As the County Fair approaches, the excitement and anticipation are high. Here are seven telltale signs that you're less than two weeks away from the big event:
1. You start and end your day walking livestock.
Your mornings and evenings are dedicated to walking your livestock, ensuring they're in top shape for the fair and teaching all involved patience and dedication.
2. Your dining room table is no longer for eating - it's project central.
The dining room table has transformed into a hub of activity. It's no longer just for meals - it's where all the fair projects come to life. From painting to poster making, it's a whirlwind of creativity.
3. Your house is full of delicious baked goods as everyone perfects their recipes.
From chocolate chip cookies, to muffins, to protein balls, to the Thrifty Meal Challenge, there has been no shortage of things to eat at our house.
4. Your printer is fully stocked with new ink.
The printer is on overdrive as it prints project evaluation forms and pictures for project reports. It's a crucial tool as we get ready for fair.
5. Your phone gallery is full of photos documenting every step of your 4-Hers' projects.
From initial ideas to final touches, every moment is captured to help tell the story of each project for reports that will be at fair, and record books at the end of the summer.
6. Your garage is now a makeshift workshop for fair projects.
Beyond the dining room table, the garage is full of activity with fair projects being built, painted and perfected.
7. You have a countdown calendar prominently displayed.
In order to be sure each project has enough time to get completed, the calendar is filled with to do lists and shopping lists as each day crossed off brings a mix of excitement and anticipation.
Despite the busyness, there's a unique thrill in the air. The County Fair is a favorite family tradition, filled with memories, that showcases hard work, talent and a lot of heart.
