Week three of our Iowa Ice Cream Road Trip brought us to a restaurant not only known for their ice cream, but also for their burgers! A double win! Arty's Ice Cream & Grill in Wilton, Iowa lived up to the hype and our family left filled to the brim.
Normally as part of our Iowa Ice Cream Road Trip we look for small town, seasonal ice cream shops, but twice now in 2021 we have hit the jackpot with seasonal restaurants not only serving delicious ice cream, but amazing food too! Arty's Ice Cream & Grill initially came onto our radar after it was named a Top Ten finalist for the Iowa Best Burger Contest. Then after talking to some local friends about Arty's they told us that their ice cream was equally worth the trip!

We loved the unique and creative menu at Arty's. Per recommendation of a local friend, we tried their "special" ice cream creation of the day and when we went it was their Snickers Galore - a chocolate tornado with caramel, big chunks of snickers and whipped cream topped with a dusting of cinnamon and a churro! It wasn't a combination I would have put together but it worked! You can check their Facebook Page for updates on their specials.

Their ice cream menu is based off their flavorful, soft serve ice creams of vanilla, chocolate, twist and raspberry. We tried a little bit of everything on our visit. The vanilla soft serve tasted like homemade ice cream and was delicious with any of their toppings in a tornado. Their raspberry soft serve is made every Tuesday and is available till it's gone each week.
I'll also recommend their strawberry shake! One of my daughters, Miss L, had their strawberry shake that is made with their vanilla soft serve and real strawberries; it was one of the best I've had in a long time.
We were impressed with everything we tried at Arty's and their menu has so many creative options, we'll have to make a trip back! This summer Arty's kitchen is open Tuesday through Saturday from 1 to 9 p.m. and on Sundays they're open for ice cream only from 5 to 8 p.m. They have both indoor and outdoor seating available and when we visited it was all utilized, as well as take out orders we saw going out the door continuously. The restaurant was busy but the staff was friendly & fast!

ReplyDeleteThe ice cream at Arty's was a real revelation: thick, with a natural flavor. We tried black raspberry and cookie dough, and the kids couldn't stop eating it all evening! After the road trip, I was inspired to experiment with flavors at home. I contacted Aldi Grocery through how to contact aldi grocery , and the operator helped me find the nearest store with a good selection of frozen fruit. We bought everything at great prices, made ice cream in the car, and it was just as good! Summer just got sweeter and cozier.
