I don't know what it is about getting off the bus, but as soon as my kids get home from school they immediately start looking for a snack. Here is a fun, protein packed snack they can make on their own that will satisfy their after school munchies and not ruin their supper.
For an after school snack this year I thought they could up their quesadilla game by making these After School Turkey Wraps using the TikTok Wrap Hack method. The After School Turkey Wrap uses simple ingredients we always have on hand at home: tortillas, shredded cheese, sliced turkey, cream cheese and some sort of cut and prepared veggie; and instead of frying it in a pan like that hack traditionally does, my kids get to use the microwave that they've perfected hitting the "30 Second" button on.
It was a big day yesterday as all four of our kids headed off on to their first day of school, so it was a great excuse to make something special for an after school snack. The kids love the combination of the turkey and CHEESE, plus the cream cheese and mini-sweet peppers add a great flavor and color to the wrap.
After School Turkey Wrap Hack
2 slices turkey lunch meat
1-2 Tbsp shredded cheddar cheese
1 Tbsp cream cheese (try a flavored cream cheese like Chive & Onion)
Lay your tortilla out on a cutting board and use a pizza cutter to cut from the middle of the tortilla down to the edge. Then fill each quarter of your tortilla with a different ingredient. I recommend leaving the peppers for the bottom right quarter. Fold the wrap up starting from the bottom left quarter, folding it up over the top left, then folding it over to the top right and then folding it down to the bottom right. Place the wrap on a microwave safe plate and hit that magical 30 second button. Then flip the tortilla and microwave for 30 seconds one more time. Let the wrap cool for a couple minutes and enjoy! (That might be the hardest part of the whole process!)
What a fun after school snack idea that your kids can make on their own! Have you tried the TikTok Wrap Hack yet? How might you customize a tortilla wrap for a fun after school snack?
