Ditch the store bought hot cocoa mix and make a batch of this easy Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix. You'll love the rich & creamy flavor so much that you'll be looking for a reason to warm up with a cup this winter!
Today is National Hot Chocolate Day, which is celebrated on January 31st every year, so I figured what better time to share my Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix recipe! This recipe makes a huge batch so you'll always have hot cocoa on hand all winter long.
My kids love making a cup of hot cocoa after every trip outside to play in the snow or go sledding, or with how cold it has been this winter, anytime they have to go outside they want a cup when they get back inside. So having our batch of Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix on our counter ready to go at all times this winter has been a lifesaver. There is no worrying if we have any of those little packets in the house, because this batch will last us a few months.
Hot cocoa after sledding is always a must! |
I love how easy this Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix is to to make too! There are only four ingredients and you just need to whisk everything together. You may want to run the hot cocoa mix through a food processor to make it finer, especially if you are going to give it away for holiday gifts or use it for a hot cocoa bar. But for just our family, we just throw it together, mix it up and store it in an air tight container on our counter for the winter.
Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix
1 - 25.6 oz bag Powdered Milk
8 oz Powder Coffee Creamer
1 cup Powdered Sugar
Place all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well with a whisk. Store in an air tight container up to 4 months.
Use 1/2 cup mix per mug of hot water or milk. Top with miniature marshmallows or whipped cream if desired and enjoy!
We've been enjoying a lot of homemade hot chocolate this winter! |
