Iowa Ice Cream Road Trip at Charlie's Soda Fountain in Clear Lake, Iowa

Week Two of our Iowa Ice Cream Road Trip brought us to Charlie's Soda Fountain in Downtown Clear Lake, Iowa. Take a step back in time as you enter Charlie's in the recently renovated Corner Drug Store.

At Charlie's Soda Fountain you can get everything from classic soda fountain drinks like Green Rivers and different Phosphate flavors, to creamy soft serve ice cream treats. We have to agree with owner Jessica Wood that the Muds and Chocolate Shakes & Malts are rich & delicious and were our family's favorites!

We are excited to share that Charlie's Soda Fountain also now carries The Olde Creamery ice cream!

The Mud includes Charlie's soft serve vanilla ice cream,
chocolate, mud powder and pecans!

Charlie's is such a fun addition to Downtown Clear Lake and even includes a kids area in the back with a toy kitchen and ice cream shop that all my kids enjoyed while our sweet treats were being made. We're grateful for all the hard work the Woods have done to bring this bit of nostalgia to the area all year long. Charlie's is open Tuesdays-Sundays, open from Noon to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, Noon to 9:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays this summer. Be sure to check their Facebook page for updated hours and any changes.
