Apple Cobbler is something that can warm you up on a cold, winter night, make you excited for the upcoming spring, is an All American dish in the summer and is one of my favorite fall flavors. So, I experimented with flavor combinations and my new casserole crockpot, and came up with a new go-to dessert, my Crockpot Apple Cobbler!
One of our family's favorite summertime desserts is my Campfire Cobbler, so I took that recipe and modified it to make it work all year long using my 9x13 slow cooker. Just like the Campfire Cobbler, it uses only a few ingredients, all of which you can easily have stocked all year long.
For the dish, I combined apple pie filling with a butter pecan cake mix, resulting in a delightful blend of sweet, nutty and buttery flavors that harmonize perfectly. Adding butter and cinnamon sugar creates a rich, sweet topping that enhances this dessert. This flavor combination is both comforting and indulgent, making it hard to resist!
This dessert is also great because it is prepared using a slow cooker. It's simple to whip up and ideal for any occasion, whether it's a holiday gathering, potluck or simply for enjoying at home.
Crockpot Apple Cobbler
1 box Butter Pecan Cake mix
1/2 cup (1 stick) Butter
3-4 Tbsp Cinnamon Sugar
Layer the ingredients in order in your slow cooker: Spread the pie filling over the bottom of the crock pot and then shake out the cake mix evenly over the pie filling. Distribute small pats of butter equally over the dry cake mix and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar on top. Cover with the lid and set your crock pot on High for 2 hours, till lightly browned and bubbly along the edges.
I recommend serving the dessert ala mode!
