Cranberry Jello Salad - Easy Holiday Side Dish

I will admit, I've never been a "cranberry sauce" kind of gal but after my husband requested I find his grandmother's recipe for her cranberry sauce, I've been making her version ever since. Now, while it isn't a traditional cranberry sauce, it gives you those holiday flavors you are looking for, in an appealing way. His grandmother normally put it in an oiled mold; I simply put it in a nice serving bowl with a spoon to share at Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.

My favorite part of this recipe is how easy it is to make. There are only four ingredients (three if you don't count the water) and all of them you can easily stock in your pantry. To make the salad you simply dissolve the jello into the boiling water, stir in a can of cranberry sauce, mix in the applesauce, refrigerate and you're done! It's the perfect side dish to add to your holiday menu if you're looking for something fruity and that all ages will enjoy.
