Oreo Balls: A No-Fail, Crowd-Pleasing Holiday Treat

When it comes to holiday baking, I love treats that are simple to make, delicious, and a hit with all ages. One of my go-to recipes that checks all the boxes is Oreo Balls. These little bites are rich, creamy, and let’s be honest — anything dipped in almond bark is a holiday winner! Plus, they’re great for making ahead, and the kids love helping roll and dip them. It's a fun family tradition we do every year.

Oreo Balls

My kids love Oreos, and several Christmas seasons ago, I resurrected this recipe for Oreo Balls that a friend shared with me when I was a teenager. Since then, it’s become a must-make Christmas Cookie every December. These Oreo Balls are a staple on my Christmas Cookie Tray, and they also make a great gift!

Ingredients:

  • 1 family sized package (19.1 oz) of regular Oreo cookies
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 package (24 oz) of white (vanilla) almond bark

Instructions:

  1. Crush the Oreos:
In a food processor, crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs. No food processor? No problem! Place the Oreos in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin.

  2. Mix in Cream Cheese:
In a bowl, combine the Oreo crumbs and softened cream cheese. Mix until fully combined. (I like using my food processor for steps one and two. It makes the job really easy and keeps my space clean!)

  3. Roll into Balls:
Scoop the mixture and roll it into small balls (I like to use a small cookie scoop). Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Chill in the freezer for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

  4. Dip in Almond Bark:
Melt the almond bark according to package instructions. (I usually start with half of the package, warming up the almond bark in my microwave for 2-3 minutes until melted.) Using a spoon and a fork, dip each ball into the melted almond bark, rolling around with the spoon, and then setting on top of your fork to let the excess drip off. Place the ball back on the parchment-lined tray. After I have dipped all of my Oreo Balls, I like to use the excess almond bark to drizzle over top!

  5. Set and Enjoy:
Let the Oreo Balls set completely at room temperature. Once set, store in an airtight container.
