What is one thing you'd tell your younger self?
I met my younger self for coffee.
We both ordered a chai tea - because even with time, we never developed a taste for coffee.
She was beaming with excitement, telling me how she couldn't wait to start a life with Ian, imaging four boys running wild around our farm. I smiled and told her not to get anxious about how long those dreams would take. Ian would propose when the time was right, and it would be magical. Kids would come when God was ready, not when a timeline demanded - and to cherish those years of just the two of us.
I told her that while she was right about one son, God had other plans - plans that included three daughters who would fill her life in ways she hadn't even imagined.
But the biggest thing I told her? Slow down. Enjoy each step of life as God gives it, instead of always pushing for the next. Trust that He is placing you exactly where you need to be, and He is always walking beside you.
I reminded her to always be authentically herself. To take a breath when her passion ran high, to listen before speaking, and to trust that who she is - who God made her to be - is more than enough.
And as she sipper her chai tea and let those words settle, I saw it - the peace of knowing that life doesn't have to go exactly as planned to be absolutely beautiful.
