As a to-do list fan I love the bullet notes and calendar space so you can think how to schedule everything ðŸ˜‰

For the last several years we have used this template for our Summer Bucket List and have had good success with it.  It helps us narrow down our ideas, and it also helps us plan out and think through our activities monthly.  It can be a little overwhelming to think of the whole summer, so breaking it up into stretches, likes months, helps make it more manageable.  Our Summer Bucket Lists over the years (20202019201820172016201520142013) have not only created a lot of great memories, but several have become family traditions.

So let's dig into this year's list a bit further!  To start with we will go to the calendar activities.  Each month we think of two activities that matter the most to us.  In June, we always look forward to our annual Iowa Ice Cream Road Trip and we can't wait to get to the library to sign up for their Summer Reading program.  In July, we are looking forward to Yurting with friends and we are very excited to be exhibiting at our local Franklin County Fair again!  To end the summer, in August, we are excited for our community VBS and going on a family vacation.  We don't have our vacation plans finalized yet, but are looking at going to Kansas City and then exploring the state of Kansas.  So if you have any suggestions, share them in the comments below!

Now moving onto our bullets for this year.  The first thing that the kids have been wanting to do for months is to go Camping.  We have a tent that the kids are eager to put up outside at our home and we've rented a camper for a weekend in June.  We also are looking forward to yurting again this summer with friends and I think making a return trip to the SafeT Home should be scheduled too.

Next is to go to the beach, which for our family means, spending at least an afternoon at the nearby Clear Lake, Iowa's City Beach.  We try to go every summer and the kids are excited to check out the new Splash Pad installed at the City Beach last year as well.  Maybe we could include canoeing onto this excursion too.  Our son went canoeing with his classmates at the end of the school year and convinced his sisters we all should do it this summer.

My heart is always happy when read books is included on the list.  We are planning on making reading a regular part of summer.  We love grabbing a big stack of books and reading outside, having a read-a-thon, or reading a book together as a family.

Last year was the "Summer of Adventure" so we thought this year should be the summer of Road Trips!  We have plans to start our summer by road tripping to different Freedom Rocks and we want to explore different areas in the state of Iowa, including the Bridges of Madison County with my grandma.  We are also looking forward to road tripping to the Great Jones County Fair to see our family's favorite band FOR King & Country in concert and the kids want to road trip to a trampoline park sometime this summer too.  There is a trampoline park just an hour away from us but I think maybe we should road trip down to Des Moines to one of their trampoline parks and invite their cousins to join us.

What is on your summer bucket list?  Do you have any recommendations to help us complete ours?
